MY SEMESTER IS FINALLY OVER OMG. This morning shall be FULL of Stef and TDKR prologue! :D

Now, for the meme, which I have stolen from [livejournal.com profile] ignited and [livejournal.com profile] regala_electra

Which TV shows did you let go of in 2011?
A whole fucking lot, Supernatural and True Blood being the biggest. My patience ran out, what can I say. Also let go of Big Bang Theory, Leverage and Glee.

Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2011? Why?
Homeland, The Wire, In Treatment (both versions), 10th and 11th Doctor, Happy Endings, Parks & Rec. Mostly because I wasn't that interested and/or lazy.

Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2012?
See above. :)

Which TV show impressed you least in 2011?
The Borgias. Neil Jordan is running an awful fucking ship.

Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2012 unless things significantly improve?
Game of Thrones. They will probably kill all my favorite characters at some point and then I will feel no inclination to watch an hour-long depression-fest every week.

Which TV show impressed you the most in 2011? Why?
Community. I've been rewatching the second season the last 2 weeks and marveling at how different it is this season. Plus, it's had a fucking STELLAR run up until the unexpected cutoff the NBC douches have decided on.

Also: Suburgatory. Almost no one I know watches it, but I fucking LOVE it. Some episodes are better than others, but it's always watchable and the cast is absolutely fantastic.

Which TV shows do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?
The Daily Show, The Late Late Show and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. By definition, all of them are bound to have weaker episodes because of the unknown factor, so I'm willing to forgive more. I've finally set my limit with scripted shows this year (see: SPN, True Blood and their epic fuckery).

Shows I watched and loved that aren't mentioned on this list because I started them in another year.
30 Rock, The Colbert Report.

***

Your main fandom of the year?
Inception, fuck yeah! I have no idea how I got into it, or why I'm so into it. Nolan is a crafty bastard.

Your favorite film you watched this year?
50/50. I watched quite a few movies this year, and I intend to watch more, but 50/50 is a movie with a real heart, which I loved. And I would probably not have gone to see it if it weren't for [livejournal.com profile] benitle so I'm very grateful for her. :)

Also, THOR. :D

Your favorite book read this year?
I've been really bad with books this year. Started and stopped reading a whole lot of them. I would say though that Russell Brand's "My Booky Wook" is a thoroughly enjoyable autobiography.

Your favorite tv show of the year?
The Mighty Boosh, really. I discovered it this year and it was THE BEST DISCOVERY EVER. :D

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Arthur/Eames, I don't know why or how but I LOVE the fics. I've been incepted, dammit.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
My favorites essentially on their way to leave LJ. It's not just the recent fuckery tbh. I don't see fandom truly moving to DW, but there has been a steady move towards tumblr, and you guys, I don't actually like tumblr all that much. :/

Your fiction boyfriend of the year?
Tomothy, but of course. Celebs to people are as social media is to socializing.

Your fiction girlfriend of the year?
It's a bit sad that it took me a while to think of one, but I guess Florence Welch?

Your biggest squee moment of the year?

:D :D :D :D :D!!!

Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?
TDKR AND THE HOBBIT. Just like the rest of the fan community around the world.

1. Hanukkah and Christmas are almost upon us! Hanukkah is, as I've iterated before, my favouritest Jewish holiday of them alllllllll (and it always makes me sad when Jon Stewart tries to reconcile it with Pagan Jesustide Christmas), and so my Menorah is already out and waiting to be lit. :D As my Roomie is half-Christian, half-Muslim, I put out some Christmas decorations at her behest. Now my place looks like the clashing of the SPARKLES, or otherwise the kingdom of LED. WUT.

2. I saw Sherlock Holmes you guys, and there was a surprise!TDKR trailer before it (but I'm only spoiling Sherlock Holmes) )

3. Speaking of Batman, I miss "Community". :( I've been marathoning season 2 the last couple of days. So here's an ABSOLUTELY AWESOME fanart of the cast of "Community" as Batman villains:

4. And if we want to be COMPLETELY geeky, here's someone's suggestion for a new "League of Gentlemen":

I WOULD LIKE TO SUBSCRIBE TO THIS PERSON'S NEWSLETTER KTX.

loony_moony: (JGL: Love!)
So here's the deal: I've kinda fallen in love with Pajiba.com. It looks like the website ONTDers go to during recess, with all the pop-culture whoring, Twilight bitching, JGL-obsessing commentary one could ever need (whilst ONTD is on recess).

So here are my 8 favorite Pajiba-shaped blog things (considering I'm going through Dustin Rowles' archive):

1. This unaccountably harsh review for 'Abduction' - I mean, honestly, what were you expecting of this movie? It makes "Payback" look like a work of art. But Dustin Rowles needs to drive the point home for all the Twihards who didn't get the clue, and in the process writes, wow, some bitter nasty shit. It's kind of marvelous, y'all.

2. Pajiba's 10 Most Bangable Celebrities On The Planet List - and for once, I agree with this kind of list. I agree A LOT.

3. Dance, MotherF**cker, Dance: Pop Culture's 20 Greatest Dancing GIFs - Pure, giffy enjoyment. :D

4. What Celebrities Would You Cast in a Muppet Lookalike Movie? - OF COURSE IT HAS KERMIT BALE.

5. Of These 15 Images, Which 3 Are NOT Michael Sheen? - A fabulous little homage for one of the (deservedly) busiest actors in the industry.

6. The Five Blandest Actors in Hollywood - I have two words for you: A diversion.

7. Looking back at '10 Things I Hate About You' from a female perspective - I agree with basically everything this woman wrote.

8. And since I've mentioned him, here's a JGL post roundup, because an obsession should always be encouraged: JGL turns 30, your crush is no longer pervy, JGL is cast in TDKR, Dustin Rowles lets loose the fangirl in him, TDKR full-cast (that we know of) pictorial (you bet your ass I enjoyed the fact they put Tom Hardy's pic right above his)

Yay! Now I can clean my browser and stop pretending I did this post for anyone else but myself!
loony_moony: (Tom Hardy: Sup)
Okay, so in my quest to see more movies with JGL and Tom Hardy in them (YES, MY "INCPETION" GIRLBONER IS NOT THROUGH, SHUSH), I've started going through some of their other movies.

And so, I saw:

1. Hesher )

2. Mysterious Skin )

3. Bronson )

I leave you with this unrelated nugget of awesomeness:

I am now officially Off Duty. TIME OFF, YES PLZ. For someone so emphatically Not Christian, I've certainly been to church quite a bit this week.

HEY HEY FLIST I HAVE A PICSPAM FULL OF NOEL FIELDING FOR YOU (with gifs) )

An early one today!

Yesterday was a foray into arctic rap, and today is a foray into Victorian rave. I can't even tell you how much I love this song, and how much I wish I heard it remixed in a club. I'm kind of ridiculously in love with it. :D

A moment of fangirling, if you please.

This video shows everything that I love about The Mighty Boosh, from the Howard/Old Gregg, to Noel Fielding's Old Gregg PERIOD to the awesome killer disco-techno song at the end. You guys, this is so the 21st century's Monty Python, I'm not even kidding.

HAPPY FIRST CANDLE, YOU GUYS. :D

I wanna talk for a moment about the significance of Hanukkah for me personally.

I know I come off as super-Jewish in here, but I'm actually mostly Jewish by heritage and ethnicity, and it's an incredibly potent presence in my life and in my own sense of self. I don't believe in god, and I don't follow Jewish customs (like keeping Kosher or praying). I am spiritual, but it's non-denominational.

I do, however, observe Hanukkah and have been doing so my entire life.

To me, Hanukkah doesn't represent some obscure historic event, or a national victory of any kind. To me, Hanukkah represents hope. I observe it, because to me, the lights of the Menorah symbolize good memories, good times and a good future yet to come. When I light the candles, I don't see them as light vanquishing darkness, but rather as light bringing comfort in darkness. It's there to be my companion, when life scares and overwhelms me.

Hanukkah comes at a bleak time of the year. The nights are getting long, and the days are gray. But when I see Menorahs at people's windows, it reminds me of the light within me. I know this is a really sappy thing to say, but I like that thought. I like that I have a small light within me, finding a brother or a sister when I light the Menorah candles in the darkness. I like that I get to be genuinely thankful for all the things that brought me to where I am now, even if I'm an unfinished product; things like family, ancestry, friends, studies, joy and sorrow. This is my private moment of thanks. I think Christians would call this "grace".

So this is why I love this holiday, people.

Happy Hanukkah. :) ♥

Love Lady Gaga or hate her (or not care about her), you gotta admit this look is totally awesome.

I feel like it got totally lost in the whole meat dress/shoes shenanigans, because it's a relatively sane look, but come on, how fucking fierce is it. I kinda love her for wearing it, because she's the only star out there right now who would wear this and people would actually judge it at face value, instead of going "WHITE WIG!!!! RENAISSANCE PAINTING PRINT!!!! GOLD FEATHERED MOHAWK!!!! THE HORROR".

Plus, her make up is awesome.

Secondly!

Dear Supernatural fandom (I use the term "dear" loosely, as all of you are as crazy as me, or more),

I hereby offer you two options for actors to play God on Show that would rock you so hard, your knees will buckle. And by knees, I mean Kripke.

BEHOLD, THE GOD POLL.
