Ummm...I don't do this usually, or rather, almost never. But I do think it's time to give more attention to this next genre of fanfiction which seems to be drastically improving last couple of months: The LotR RPS genre.

Yes, I know Real People Slash is a bit squicky to all, but really, if we can read HP RPS, we can read LotR too. And not all RPSs are written in a way that makes you feel embarrassed for reading them. Some are written quite lovely.

One warning though - the fics I'm about to rec are all, without exception of the R/NC-17 kind. Yes, that means we actually read about some men with other men. If this is not your cup of tea, I suggest not reading the cut. Don't say I didn't warn you people.

As you people probably know my preference in LotR cast and kinds of smut, expect no less in the kind of fics as well. But I can promise you one thing: all fics I'm reccing in this post are superbly written. I can recognize a good fic when I read one, and all of the following fics fall into that and "good+" category. Enjoy them if that's your kick, and if it's not, won't hurt to try, wouldn't it? *wiggles eyebrows suggestively*

"In Which Billy Boyd Says Stuff" by inbetweens. (Elijah/Billy , Dom/Orlando)

An easy-enough fic to start with for any beginner-RPS-reader in here. It's rated PG-13, but contains rather rude language *giggles manically* mostly by Dom. And Orlando. Me likey cursing!Orlando, bahahaha. Anyway, this is not very hardcore stuff, but it's absolutely HILARIOUS and some parts in it make you gasp and wonder how better than this girl can any other writer be.

"Educational Endeavors" (Sean A/Orlando, Elijah/Orlando, Viggo/Orlando, Billy/Dom (?) ;D) and "ViggoKisses(TM)" (a seuqel) (Viggo/Orlando) by salixbabylon.

Salix said these two are parts of a small RPS series she's writing, and I'm inclined to get Ye Olde Whip to get her writing some more of it soon. Rated NC-17 by her, but again, you people have probably read much smuttier fics than this, whether slash or het. It has a sort of offhand feeling to it, and it's characterized just lovely, and that's what I think is most important about a good RPS fic.

"Past and Present" by iscaris. (Johnny/Orlando/Viggo)

This one is more like a crossover between LotR and PotC fandoms, and it's an utterly delectable piece of non-con. It's very very VERY NC-17, so anyone underage, you're going at your own risk. Rhysenn is a master at all things slash, and this time she blows the readers' mind completely with the sheer cruelty of her plot and characters. It's like summoning the lambs to slaughter, only RPS style. This fic will make you either wibble incoherently, or lick your lips lasciviously, as I know some of you people will do. *winks at smutters*

And now for a RPS classic -

"Sabotage" by Calico. (Elijah/Dom/Billy/Viggo/Orlando, this is a full blown cast orgy, quite literally >:D)

Rated strict NC-17, this fic was a ground-breaker not only in the LotR RPS fandom, but in many many other RPS fandoms as well. This fic's shockaton factor is so very very intense, and it'll have you drooling and frothing at the mouth in no time. If you ever dreamed of a fic involving those five men in various positions, this is SO your fic. It surfaced about a year ago, and word of it went around like flames in a slashy field. This is a must-read for every RPS-er, like the Draco Trilogy of the RPS fandom, to do a very crude and rough metaphore.
