Yes, this is a PotC 3 review.
Disclaimer: if you didn't like the movie, don't read the cut, because I ADORED IT. And I know that many people didn't like it at all.
So when is the Imax version out? >:D

OH, THE CRAZY. OH, THE HOT. OH, THE CRAZY!
I ask you, what's better than one Jack Sparrow? LOTS of Jack Sparrows! Shipfuls of them! Topless! Laying eggs! Courting goats! Licking rocks! And my guess is that 90% of those were totally Johnny Depp ideas. *ships Jack/Poor, Hapless, Unsuspecting Goat* So what if they used his schizophrenia as a plot tool? I thought it was a brilliant one. Plus, the opening shot of a huge nose sniffing? GENIUS. xD
And besides, the whole pissing contest against Barbosa just makes my life better. :D ("What are arrrr you doing?" "no! what are you doing?" "no! what ARRRRRR you doing?")
And oh, Orlando. My crush on you is restored. Took you two damn movies but you finally nailed Will Turner down to boot. And looked damn hot while doing it. Seriously, am I the only person here who finds Davy Jones! Will Turner incredibly, scorchingly hot? My panties were tingling dammit! And all that black leather.....I need me some posters stat. And how much do I love that Will Turner always ends up in the S&M scenes? MMmmm.
And Keith Richards! KEITH RICHARDS! That just, oh gods, it's like the seal of immortality and the ultimate branding of cult for the PotC series. So great. He even looked like Daddy Sparrow, although the idea of Jack looking like him one day is mildly disturbing, but not wholly surprising. And the irony of him playing the Captain who kills people in order to keep the rules is just sweet. Like, Belgian chocolate sweet.
Also, Tia Dalma. It wasn't a big surprise for me when she turned out to be Davy Jones' long lost goddess lover, because there was a lot of speculation about it in fandom before the movie came out., but nevertheless her turning into one of the drama points in the movie was quite impressive. Not so impressive was Keira Knightley. Blah. She was blah. Her only good scene in the movie was the one were she pulling a huge gun from her butt, because hey, is someone surprised by the fact that Elizabeth Swann has a huge stick up her ass? Certainly not me. And that horrible speech. God, does no one in Hollywood understand that the first, last and only heroic speech that should have been done in movies in the last ten years was in "Lord of the Rings"? Why, oh why must we endure more? One was quite enough (thank you VERY much, Viggo Mortensen's nasaly roar). She was very pretty though.
And the B-cast! Tom Hollander's Napoleonish Beckett, Pintel and Ragetti, the two silly soldiers, the monkey and the gun! Sao Fen was nice, but his part could've been done better.
I looooved the music. And the visuals, especially in the whole Davy Jones' Locker arc. Beautiful stuff.
So yeah, maybe too many plot twists, and too many battles, and the editors could've been pickier, but nevertheless the fact that ATW is the most coherently insane movie of the trilogy stands in its favour. Loved it. :))))
