Moment I didn't catch on my first viewing: When Elizabeth reveals herself to Jack before they board the Black Pearl, Jack turns to Gibbs and mutters "hide the rum". HEEHEE.
Jack didn't seem s tired for me this time. However, it seemed his character wasn't going anywhere, was it. Well, aside for the end and being eaten and all, but even then it's kind of an open ending, isn't it. We see him saying "hello, beastie" (SO AWESOME. Very Aragorn) and then they immediately cut to a wide shot where the Kraken collapses his arms around the Black Pearl and sinks it. However, who's to say it wasn't actually because Jack didn't stab the Kraken and it basically died and took the ship down with its weight?
As for the complaints about the movie. Let me remind everyone the critics said the exact same things about PotC:CotBP. It's too long, the plot is on crack, the action sequences are eating the actors alive, Orlando Bloom is wooden. And yet, we didn't give a damn. Will no one remember that these movies are based on a fucking Disney ride? They're not exactly quality cinema now are they. What they are, however, is cult. Plain cult.
Also Norrington. I know opinions are divided on whether he's IC or not. I think that even if he is a vicious, bitter creature right now, it's not exactly irreversible now is it. What Norrington craves most of all, and we know it for fact, is his job and Elizabeth. And he just got his job back. Who's to say he's not going to change again next movie? For better or for worse, he was fucking HOT. And I think that the bitterness Norrington had was a wonderful incentive for Jack Davenport's charisma to come out.
As for Orlando Bloom, he's never going to be a good lead. It's not in him. He doesn't have that abundance of sleek charm or masculine charisma that his collegues have. What he does have, however, is a dorky sort of wickedness that makes a wonderful Erol Flynn-like character. And the fact that he's one of the most beautiful men onscreen. And when I say "beautiful", I don't mean handsome or even sexy. Just beautiful and incredibly fuckable. And whippable. Mmmmmmm.
