I had the pleasure of watching tonight's episode with several lovely fandom ladies, and [livejournal.com profile] titti. ;D

So when I saw that tonight's writer was Jeremy Carver I literally squeed out loud, because JEREMY CARVER YOU GUYS. THE GENIUS BEHIND "MYSTERY SPOT".

Only...

Only tonight's episode felt like a Sera ep more than anything (Dean emo? check. Gorgeous Sam awesomeness? check. Random hot chick? check. Gory violence to the point of overdoing? check.). I came to the conclusion afterwards that Jeremy Carver's specialty in SPN ep writing is meta. The guy is a glorious meta writer, and since tonight's ep had literally no meta, the writing was not really at an awesome level that is the signature of Teh Carver (to illustrate, the other eps he wrote for SPN were "Sin City" where we found out a LOT about the demons, AVSC which had not only amazing MotW myth but also amazing wee!chesters and THE AMULET, and "Mystery Spot" which really, do I need to elaborate?). So we got an okay episode, but not a truly fantastic one.

Which is not to say I didn't enjoy, because the meriad of small touches was great; from the Indian guy at the phone company eating junk food and masturbating (and providing a nice callback to Sam's amazing erection-hiding stunt at DaLDoM), Sam conning the girl to talk by being all Sam-ish, Dean eating (YAY) and checking out girls (another signature of Carver is that Dean's brain is seriously downplayed in his eps), and some nice lines. Also DADDY WINCHESTER TALKING! Big plus. And the emo....gnaaaaaaah. Sam finding out that Ruby was lying was, urge. Very much a CUDDLE THE SAMMICH moment right there. :(

But all in all, just a nice ep.

But really, Dean? *HUG* *SMACK UPSIDE THE HEAD* STOP CALLING GIRLS "BITCHES". Really. GRRR.

And now, SLEEP.
