It’s true, Jared’s life has never been a valley of roses, but he doesn’t mind being a donkey. He is furry, grey and cute. Girls constantly pet him and give him attention, which is just what he likes. Well, that and some nice crop of clovers. Oh, and a carrot every once in a while. He totally likes that too. And on the odd happy day, if no one’s paying attention, he’s prone to burst into song, and maybe a little dance. Jared favors seventies soul, and eighties sitcom themes.

So after Shrek saves him from being sold by Grannie Kripke, it’s only right that he should burst into the theme of “Family Matters”. Even the onion lecture doesn’t deter him. (Ogres have layers, but Jared is a donkey. If he wore layers, he’d sweat, and it would crimp his fur.)
