I don't know how many of you people are on the "HarryxLucius" yahoo group, but those of you who are susbcribed will probably know what I'm talking about.
Last week, a couple of authors who wrote a 9-chapter fic called "All Adoration, Duty, and Obedience" submitted all of it to the group and posted all of it in one time. Now, every chapter of that fic (sans the epilogue) was at the very least 100KB-size, and they submitted it all in one time. What those authors didn't take into count is the fact that most email addresses they were automatically sending their fic to were 2MB accounts who were accepting emails from other sources along with that yahoo group, like hotmail perhaps?
Those 2 idiots who posted that fic not only posted a 800+kb file at once on the group, they also wrote a broken link for the archive!
Totally, indesputably UNACCEPTABLE.
As I told that to [livejournal.com profile] mimbulus, she told me whenever she gets those kinds of fics, she copies them and edits them. Now I don't mean to be rude, but I am not going to fight with my Word software just because I have to transform an email-ed fic to a regular document fic. I like to read those fics as emails, and keep them that way. That's why I haven't been able to erase it in one time. I'm not spoiled in that sense, I'm merely a yahoo group subscriber and as such am entitled to read the posts as emails and not being have to transform them just because the author was stupid enough to post a too-long email. Not to mention I wasn't sure at first whether it's worth to even consider putting effort with all the transforming work, because that fic has certain problems in it, though I'm not referring to them in here.
The "HarryxLucius" group had some serious problems lately, I know. With Yahoo Groups erasing similar groups with no advanced notice, there's a nasty smell of doom hovering over that group, not to mention petty fandom wars over "Jade Green Eyes" (yes, I saw it and immediately erased all emails talking about it, disgusted), and the fact the group is reaching its archive limit. But people, you have to do something about idiotic posts like that! Put a size limit over posting, demand proper archive-linking for big fics, anything!

Meh, I'm so out of my league here.

Hmmm...that piccie befuddles me. I'm torn between melting over his expression, or laughing about his don't-I-look-like-Claire-Huxtable looks. And YES, I know all of fandom already saw this piccie. So I'm slow on uptake. Hmph.

Another Will!Orli recently-published piccie. Those leggings are KILLING me. >:D

That leather handband AGAIN! Nerrrrrg!

And also, "H&M"? WTF?

Nnnnnnng! Another "Midsomer Murders" cap! Nnnnng!

"Orlando Bloom -Best delectable neck and gnawable jawline since Tom Felton."

I need to go to the video store soon and get those Disney movies, but meh, I don't feel like leaving the house tonight. Nyah.

Why am I evil, schnooget? :)

Because he's not looking up at the sky, he's looking at the roof of the studio where they photoed his Legolas " looks" for the movies and CG. :)

Elijah has no fucking neck, period. >:D

Actually I don't. :)

Maybe they needed to see his face (and lopsided nose) from below, ever thought of that? :D

I do. Hmph.

I'm one of the mods on that group, and I totally agree. [livejournal.com profile] nimori and I were in chat when that HUUGE f'ing fic was posted and said pretty much the same things you are saying. I'm actually glad you brought this up again because I meant to discuss it with Nim and [livejournal.com profile] maeglinyedi and forgot all about it in the frenzy of preparations for Hogwarts: A Rehabilitated History. But I will bring it up with them again when I talk to them next. :-)

Yes, well, I only edit them in word if I like them enough to keep them.

Anyway, I haven't seen that first pic, or any of the others, for that matter, but still, he is cute and LOL "looks like Claire Huxtable"

*sniggers*

Also, call me when you see this, I want to ask you something.

What was the issue over that "Jade Green Eyes" you were talking about?

Just the fact that some people were tactless enough to try and explain in that group why they think that fic sucks. And then all of Crystal's fans came and defended her. All in all it was terribly t00bish.

I'm still puzzled over the "dreamy" piccie. ;)

Ooh! The Johnny pic from the H&M catalogue is gorgeous! [livejournal.com profile] fyrie and I tried to find a copy of the catalogue when I was in Sweden with her, but the main H&M branch in the city was all out :(

But yay! Johnny! *snuggles*

I got it from... some site with a whole load of caps and LJ icons and such. I don't have the address, I'm afraid, because I had to clear out my history and my favourites list today before I let my mother use my laptop. (I didn't think she would like to know about the pr0n, myself). I found it by searching for Monty Python livejournal icons in Google; shouldn't be too hard to find :D

This is completely off topic, or actually I think it isn't, as this *is* Moony's journal, and the topic is Orli.

The movie Deed Poll. Does someone know more about it? WHat happened to it? IT is a movie that was almost made, but then wasn't. It was to star Orli and a german actor, Andre Schneider. There would have been several, rather explicit sex scenes between the two male leads, and then also with the female lead added into the mix later, but who wants to know about that. Het is het even if there are two gyus.
It was a little indie movie, trying to be schocking with it's somewhat violent plotline.

This movie made the online fandom go quite silly for a while, I suppose, for instance fake interviews can still be found where the actors discuss the making of the movie and so forth.

I may not be a Bloomette for a very long time, but I can tell you I've never heard of that movie before you mentioned it in here. It sounds like a fluke to me, hon. I'm not sure that in his current status Orli would go and do an Indie movie, no matter how shocking and seemingly-artistic it is.

Though Orli/another male actor = mmmmMMMMMMMmMMMMMmmMmmmmmmmm ;)

Why the hell am I talking about Orli like his friggin PR girl? *scowls*

Date: 2003-10-07 10:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wingles.livejournal.com
It might have been a smaller phenomena than Orli, and it perhaps excited the Schneider-guys fans more than Bloomettes.

It says on this site (http://deedpoll-themovie.cinephiles.net/) that the filming started in late 2001, so it wouldn't be a current project... Fellowship was released that year, so he wasn't that hot in Hollywood yet, I think.

And it is important for a HOllywood sort of actor to keep up his or her credibilty as an actual actor, and not just a puppet. THis is often done by getting involved in indie projects... it's about showing that he isn't beyond working with some smaller names, that money isn't all to him, that he wants to be taken seriouly. That's the image I get, anyway, from the way everytime a famous actor is in a smaller budget movie everyone goes "oh, he's trying to regain his credibility..."

ANd right now, if Orli wanted to get *my* respct, he could do it by acting in a piece like this, showing that he is a professional even without the highly expensive special effects and the make-up and all that jazz. And I am not saying that I disrespect him, or, acutally I do, but it's not because there's nothing to respect, it's that I happen to get my dirty kicks from disrespecting his intelligence, objectifying him. Just to get back for all the years men have spent drooling Marilyn.
This is my inner amazon screaming, don't worry about it.

Still sounds like a fluke to me. :)

And for the record, there are Indie films and there are Indie films. I don't think that a movie full of explicit homosexualsex scenes with no actual meaning behind them wil help Orli get a credibility as an actor in Holywood. It sounds like a fell project, like so many movies done in Holywood.
He has my respect (and utter love) anyway. ;)

You think you're the only one who gets kicks from disrespecting and objectifying him? Honey, that's what ALL Bloomettes do, unless they are plebe American teenage fans who just moved on to the next victim after *NSYNC. >:D

Date: 2003-10-07 10:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wingles.livejournal.com
Yes, well, maybe his credibility woudln't soar if he did this particular movie... but i meant, a move like it. Something that has a smaller budget...
And I think this movie had a plot and a story and a meaning, somewhere there.

You think you're the only one who gets kicks from disrespecting and objectifying him?
NO, but i might be the one who can't help feeling bad about it. I mean, all the time I'm going "respect people, don't objectify women, blah blah," and then I'm really not much better. Breking one's own ideals hurts when one is an idealist.

Date: 2003-10-07 11:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] loony-moony.livejournal.com
But he did do a smaller Indie budget. Just because NOW he's a big star, doesn't mean that when he did "Calcium Kid" they planned on such a big PR-ing of the movie. Here's your "lower budget, more credibility" movie for you. :)

Well, I'm not going to disagree with the way you express your ideals, but I can tell you that you can safely objectify Orli because he knows he's being objectified as it is. He is "another Pin Up in the society, taking off a load from Justin Timberlake" as it was said in one of the articles about him.
You can stay an idealist, and still covet men, can you? :D

Guhhh. I know you're right. i just have a knack for making a problem out of everything. You know, I used to ( and still sort of do) feel guilty about reaing slash, because I felt that I was abusing this minority rudely. Taking what's fun and happy out of the gayness, and not dealing with the hard stuff, prejudece, telling mum, so forth. Online I indulge in the gayness and the subculture, offline, where I might have to face some problems I live a straight life.
A few gay people I've spoken to in the fandom have told me to stop being silly, but it's not that easy... it's something that happens on a less rational level.
