Draco, Draco, wherefore art thou Draco?

A thought has occoured to me not long ago about H/D fics, and slash in general. When it's fluffy, you suddenly hear about how beautiful the people in the pairing are. It's not the "he looks sooooo haaaaawt in pleather OMG" type, but rather the intimate, sort of offhanded type where everybody's gorgeous. Harry has lovely dimples, and Draco snuffles when he sleeps. Sirius drools adorably on his pillow and Remus' eyes are very beautiful. Snape has dragon breath in the morning (and really, when doesn't he have dragon breath? >:D), and Ron has the milkiest skin in existence on his buttocks. And while I was wondering how exactly did all the characters become so fetching and beautiful, a lovely thought sprang up: It's not that they are, it's the way their lovers see them. A sort of hidden POV exists in every fluff fic, even when the author doesn't mean it. The literalization of the phrase "to me you are beautiful". And while sticky and obvious (yes, me and Legolas are having the time of our lives in here) this thought is, it made me smile. :)

I am having problems in reading slash fics sometimes. Gee, what a surprise. ;) I mean, in the sense of relationship dynamics. Do gay men really have bitch and butch dynamics? Because I know a fair few gay boys around me, and they don't seem the type to fall into that sort of pattern with their significant others. That's why I'm having difficulties in seeing that in fanfiction too, specially when most of the characters we like so much to slash with each other are so very domineering and intense. Tell me the truth - could you people honestly imagine Draco Malfoy to be the sort of man who'd cave first in an argument? Or maybe give the control over to Harry as a free choice? Whenever I think of that,  [livejournal.com profile] mistful's "Your Every Wish" fic comes to my mind. Meh.

What do you mean you tried to brew Herbal Essences in your potions couldron?

So yeah, Potterverse's fandom fixation with hair. So many endless questions about hair! How come Harry's hair is always the same length? Why doesn't Hermione even use conditioner? are there magical hair stylists? Is long hair really that acceptable in wizarding society, or are those just the Malfoys and Snape?

And don't get me started on haircuts. Or about Harry's hair. Really. The amount of silly metaphores I've read about Harry's hair would make Shakespeare roll in his grave. Not to mention the amount of hair makeovers the poor boy's been through. As if he didn't have to cope with Aunt Petunia's hair obsession, there's seem to be a small army of fanficiton writers who'd love to give him a style like their favourite boyband member.

Yeah, I could so see Harry sporting a Jerry Curl.

Nah, just kidding. As if we need another Justin Timberlake clone. One is more than enough. You know, Cedric Diggory? >:)

No more rhymes now, I mean it! -Does anyone want a peanut?

"Voldemort, he can fusssss"

"Fuss, fuss..." Walden Macnair scratched at the sparse hair on his head. "I think he likes to scream and harass"

Lucius Malfoy shook his head consolingly. "He probably means no haaaarm."

Walden craned his head closer to Lucius, his eyes darting sideways first to make sure he's not heard. "He's really very short on charm."

Lucius shrugged, then hitched his tighter-than-thou leather pants up in a hopeless attmept to get them higher than his buttcrack and hurried to fetch Nagini a Muggle to eat.

This was an interesting day. This morning I woke up and then fell asleep again and dreamed I was meeting Orlando Bloom in a very beautiful city, and had a hearty chat with him about something and then managed to annoy him. All hail Moonay, annoyer extrodinaire.

And then I saw "Kill BIll Vol. 2"  and yeeeeeeeeeech. I thought that movie was supposed to be less bloody! >:(
