True Blood 2x10

loony_moonySHIT JUST GOT REAL.
Reactions are in the order Dionysus intended:
1. Hahahahah, True Blood. Though the rest of the episode is quite delightful, way to blow your load right in the beginning. I daresay that Eric scene eclipsed everything else, because it was Eric and he was crying, all naked in his bathtub. And he needed comforting. All naked in his bathtub. Because he's mourning Godric and he's all soft and fragile. Did I also mention he's naked in his bathtub? Because it needs mentioning. :D
No, but really. I like how the series is starting to build towards the Eric/Sookie (which, if it happens, will merit her name change back from "SUCKY"), because it's basically doing it better and faster than the books. I thought the Eric/Sookie in the 4th book was a total cop-out, since it wasn't entirely him. However, in the series, Sookie is falling for the real Eric, and she's falling for him fast and hard. Notice how all her fantasies are never really about having sex with him, but rather having a relationship with him, deeper in a way she and Beeeeeel will never be. Intriiiiiguing. Also proves the casting of ASkars is so spot on it's not even funny.
2. OH, THE LOLNESS THAT IS JASON STACKHOUSE. LOLNESS. With the gas mask and the toplessness and tight jeans with the big buckled belt and the super machoism of the "somebody's gotta do SOMETHING" variety and his horndog tendencies that NEVER WAVER. Dean Winchester would SO approve. I daresay Jensen Ackles would too. And you know what I like the most about it? That True Blood just TOTALLY spoofed every single 4th of July movie ever, and it was hilarious. Oh, Jason Stackhouse. Please stay just the way you are right now, because I love you. xD
3. HOYT/JESSICA. EPICNESS OF THE EPIC VARIETY. How come THIS PAIRING, out of all the pairings in this show, is so fucking functional? She's a young vampire made of an ignorant virginal teenaged girl, and he's a dim momma's boy, but together they bring the best out of each other in a way that puts everyone else in shame. Incredible. I'm saying this even after seeing Jessica biting Hoyt's mom, because honestly? I don't feel bad for her getting bitten. She deserved it for the way she's been treating Jessica. GUH. But one must say, the Wii scene was funny.
4. THE LACK OF GODRIC IN THIS SHOW ALREADY HURTS ME. I read someone's epic little review today, and she said the following 3 episodes to I Will Rise Up are going to be so very anticlimactic, because Godric's death just felt so big. I think it's a classic case of a seriously talented actor in a show mostly filled with mediocre actors, stealing every single scene he's in. Because let's face it, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer are not exactly the Best Actors Ever. It was even more obvious when Beel and Sucky had an intimate scene that felt so stale, and it cut right into a scene where ASkars and Allan Hyde had a sizzling chemistry. And they did NOT have a whole season to build up to it. They barely had 1/3 of a season to get to wherever they did, and boy did they get there.
5. WHERE IS PAM?
6. Sam Merlotte and Andy Bellefleur. The two biggest anti-heroes ever, and they are so cute. They are like the Winchesters of this show. Bumbling Andy and his good intentions, hunted Sam (because it's not paranoia when someone's really out to get you) and his despair. Out of all the MESS that is the Maryann arc, those two shone the most.
7. Speaking of which, I don't exactly get what the fuck they were thinking about when they overdevelopped the Maryann thing. I kinda liked the way she was handled in the book. I liked that Sam had an affair with her, rather than with Daphne, in the book. I like that she refused the vampires' offering, and took an unexpected one. I know the first sacrifice she takes in the book was Lafayette, but that could've been easily changed to some other Bon Temps resident. IDK. It's a mess and it's boring, and I'm really itching for Maryann to fuck off from this show.
8. The Tara scene. I won't lie, I hated that she reconciled with her mother, seeing as her mother was a mean, abusive drunk who became a condescending, righteous bitch and never was her mom in the first place. I did love that all the support that came for Tara and all the care for everyone came from Lafayette, because let's face it, Lafayette rocks this show's socks. I keep wanting to compare him to Belize from Angels in America, but it's not fair to either of them, really. By the way, I think Lettie Mae and Eggs are going to kick the bucket by the end of the season. They're starting to get character closure.
9. I don't think the Queen is dead, because a) it's not possible. We haven't even seen Evan Rachel Wood yet, and b) vampires don't bleed to death. They die messily. I think the Queen was either feeding, or she was holding dead Hadley (Sookie's cousin in the books) in her arms. IDK. It was a classic cliffhanger, is all.
10. All in all, not as epic as last episode, but still cute. Felt a lot like the first season, surprisingly. But I kept feeling like we were given appetizer after appetizer, when the entrée was just around the corner. To which I say, IS IT SUNDAY YET?

lol, Hoyt/Jessica = Functional. Who'd'a thunk? And they are so sweet, and schmoopy, and wonderful, WITHOUT making you want to gouge your eyes out! When they first met, Hoyt melted my heart by being the first person to tell Jessica is was okay and awesome to be a vampire. He made her feel good about it.

And I really do think Anna Paquin is a fantastic actress, but I could care less about Bill or the actor. I'm ready to kick him to the curb and bring in some of the other guys in the books that Sookie dates.
I don't really know if Tara will ever forgive her mom (or whether she even should) but the woman is still her mother and she was on her side for once and I think they were trying to focus on good emotions, not scary evil ones.
