Finally, finally, finally a likable "House" episode in what feels like a MILLENIA full of badly acted rape victims and Tritter foulness. FINALLY. Pissing contest with Cuddy and a very witty handicapped doctor, squee-worthy banter with Wilson (next to the urinals, no less!), treading on the ducklings and Chase wearing stupid clothes and looking gay! Finally, "House" as it used to be in the second season. I particularly liked the sniping contest with the handicapped doctor. I wish she'd be back at some point. There couldn't be too many strong women around someone like House. It's just not possible. And since Cameron is usually something akin to cooked shellfish when it comes to panache, it's lovely to see a female someone ball-busting House other than Cuddy. I kind of feel cheated when it comes to the medical mystery, though. I mean, a toothpick and the poor guy's liver just goes akjhakshakjdhakhadjka? And being a gypsy with a blond girlfriend. Whatever, at least he wasn't insufferable.
Keep on the good work! :D

And -
Oh, god. This episode felt like the cruellest one in the entire series. I watched Servilia getting tortured and I hurt. It was just, oh god. Atia is such a dumb bitch sometimes. Of course Timon wasn't going to cut Servilia's face off, dear god. And now I fear of the revenge Servilia would do. Because she will. Ouchie.
On the other hand, new Octavian doesn't feel as right as Max Pirkis did. He's very delicate and British and obviously knows how to do the whole "Oh I'm so cunning" thing well, but still. Max Pirkis had such palpable charisma, and this guy just doesn't feel like Augustus. Maybe it's the writing as well.
I'm kind of bewildered when it comes to Poska and Marc Antony. Why are they still working together? Marc Antony was a horrible consul, and Poska was right there to see it, and yet he advises him with strategy. One would think he would try and act otherwise. I guess it's too late now anyway.
Awww, Agrippa/Octavia is so cute! He's so obviously in love with her. I really liked in the episode when Octavia was indifferent to torture, when Jocasta was puking her guts to the sight.
And Vorenus and Pullo! Yay! Kill the slavering bastard! Whee! That made me happy, in a very violent way. Hee.
This is still the best television around, no question about it. :)

And now I will watch some old "House" episode and pretend not to be scared to death because I have to sing a recital tomorrow night.

Date: 2007-02-08 07:11 am (UTC)Octavia, girl, I have so been there. "Maybe some day...we can be friends." Poor Agrippa, though. He has the affable look of Samwise Gamgee, only a little more handsome.
I, too, am not entirely sure about new!Octavian. He's not bad, he's just not, well, Octavian.
Listening to Servilia's screams was like hearing something inhuman and wretched. I was literally shaking, dear god. Timon is fast becoming an interesting secondary character, and I like seeing how this show explores Rome's relationships with its various annexed provinces, especially Judaeia. Too bad the series isn't going on into "ROME: The Empire"... or else we'd get to hear rumours (somewhere down the line) about a certain hippie Jewish upstart. ;)
P/S: I still love you, Marcus Antonius. I blame it on the Puresex factor.
